MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE - THE UK'S #1 LIVE SHOW!

James Aston has been performing on stage now for over 20 years, making his first appearance as Michael Jackson as part of a star search competition in the mid 90's. He went on to come first in the final at the Lancastrian suite in Gateshead, in the north east of England 

 

Before that time James had only performed for fun at local karaoke bars, danced in many a round on countless dance floors as an avid Michael Jackson fan. he also danced at Michael jackson day celebration, and ended up surrounded by MJs personal camera team. The day was organized annually by Adrian Grant for OFF THE WALL fan magazine. Adrian was Michael's long term publicist and writer of the hit musical theatre production on the west end, THRILLER LIVE.

 

At a later date the video would be watched during an interview with Adrian and MJ where Michael was asked how he feels about kids copying his moves and trying to dance like him.

Michaels reply was "oh i love it, some of them are so good. James was highlighted, with MJ saying "There, that kids GO IT!!!"

 

When James was asked to join a live touring band playing keyboards and performing his show stopping rendition of "Billie Jean" as a finale. James quickly realised his favorite place was at the front of the stage and Joined a touring caberet band as a front man, still holding his idols trademark moves and showmanship. He fronted no less than two live showbands in the years that followed singing along side his dear friend Catherine. And was also one fourth of a top north east boyband "Envy" for 3 years, before starting his own live band "Justified" and played many eventful gigs all over the country and over seas.  

 

James had always wanted to put together a full tribute to his idol, but had never wanted to do it Half way. When Michael announced his O2 comeback tour James decided it was time to take the next step and started planning for a full scale tribute.

 

It was two or so months into the planning and structure of the show, when the news shook the world that the King of POP Michael Jackson had died. 

 

James, devistated by the news, decided No matter what... this would be a celebration of the energy and the magic of the legend that had helped shape his life. "JACKSON" Dancing the Dream with James Aston was born, A tribute like no other to a legend like no other.

James still performs today as front man of the UPTOWN band and you can see him perform hits from likes of Queen, Bruno Mars and many others including of course MICHAEL JACKSON and THE JACKSON 5.
